Hermes silk twill scarf, hand-rolled, 36" x 36" (100% silk) Color : anthracite/vert/quetsche

This composition borrows its two halves from existing carrés. The first, Cannes et pommeaux, is by Françoise de la Perrière. The second, Les Cannes, is by Virginie Jamin. The walking-cane is a small marvel combining practicality and decorative beauty in a veritable anthology of ornamentation, expertise and fine materials testifying to the immense talent and fertile imaginations of its artisan creators. The Émile Hermès collection – home to so many beautiful and unusual objects, redolent with history and meaning – is the inspiration for a great many carrés. Émile discovered his passion for collecting at the tender age of twelve, when he acquired his first walking-cane for a song and discovered it concealed a silk umbrella! Cannes et cannes is a special tribute to the first stirrings of emotion in a budding young collector.
