Hermes silk twill scarf, hand-rolled, 36" x 36" (100% silk) Color : beige/orange/powdery rose
An architect by training, Nigel Peake is inspired by habitats of every kind, and discerns a spirit and a philosophy in each building technique. This scarf is a homage to the natural ingeniousness of birds. To their gift for creating a nest – the very symbol of a protective refuge – from almost nothing. It pays tribute to their infinite patience and the countless sorties to and fro that are needed to gather all sorts of twigs, leaves, algae, sand or down – elements that are scarcely visible but which, when woven together, become a shelter. In an allegory to this ability shared by all living beings, this scarf assembles feathers, flowers and leafy shoots in a protective circle.
