Hermes silk twill scarf, hand-rolled, 36" x 36" (100% silk) Color : lilas/parme/framboise
Among the many books preserved in the Émile Hermès collection are the albums of Camille et fils, a Parisian saddler based in the 10th arrondissement. A plate dating from 1895 illustrating a selection of girths caught the attention of Virginie Jamin, who was attracted by the restrained beauty of the drawing. The designer, a specialist in geometric compositions, gave free rein to her imagination, deploying the girth motif in a playful zigzag pattern. In an elegant and fascinating dance, the girths mirror each other as they criss‑cross or zigzag in a harmonious mix of lines, checks and coloured weaves.
