Based on the design of the Fouets et Badines scarf
Virginie Jamin often draws her inspiration from the Émile Hermès collection. An expert in skilfully arranged compositions, the artist discovers on each of her visits inspiring objects that will become the motifs of her next scarf design. This time she sets her sights on a peddler’s album dating from the early 19th century, featuring hunting whips, postilions’ whips, riding crops and other pieces from the collection. Her imagination completes this ensemble, and braided leathers, carved wood and worked ivory now take shape. Answering the suppleness of a sinuous network of loops and interlacings formed by the leather thongs, the handles adorned with globes, dogs’ heads or horses’ heads stand in a strict diagonal, rigorously aligned.
