Hermes silk twill scarf, hand-rolled, 36" x 36" (100% silk) Color : framboise/violet/rouge

An ex-libris is a vignette engraved with a motif, a phrase or initials, which book-lovers stick in their books in order to personalise them. The ex-libris of Émile Hermès, grandson of the Parisian house’s founder, takes its inspiration from a drawing by the French painter Alfred de Dreux, featuring a groom and carriage, synonymous with the romantic era of Paris. The image draws strength from its simplicity, and has been interpreted numerous times over the years. In this scarf, the illustrator Louis Boquin dresses it in motifs normally used for silk ties, in a play of geometrical lines juxtaposing circles, squares, triangles and letters.
