Philippe Dauchez

Born in 1900 in Paris and passing away in 1984, Philippe Dauchez was a passionate sailor, artist, and Official Painter of the French Navy (Peintre Officiel de la Marine) from 1948. He spent his youth between Paris and the coastal town of Bénodet, developing a deep love for the sea. Trained in carpentry and drawing at the Fourriers School in Rochefort, Dauchez dedicated his life to sailing and painting, capturing maritime life with vivid, affectionate sketches. In 1975, a major retrospective at the Musée de la Marine honored both Philippe and his father André Dauchez. He also collaborated with Hermès, designing scarves that reflect his lively, nautical style, such as the “Belle-Île, Le Port” scarf. You can discover more of his paintings here.
