Texas, the biggest state in the Union after Alaska, is proud of its extraordinarily varied wildlife and flora. The wide open spaces of Texas are an invitation to live life on a bigger scale. Inevitably, we recall the many great films that have brought the history of the American West, its ranchs and vast horizons, to the world at large. This carré may be read as a beautifully-scripted message, dedicated to the preservation of the State’s rich natural heritage, and its careful balance of wildlife, domestic animals and livestock. The composition’s abundant detail paints a seductive portrait of wild nature. Who better than Texan artist Kermit Olivier, to depict the Virginia quail, the Rio Grande Wild Turkey, the collared peccary, the mountain lion, or the nilgai ( a majestic antelope, originally from India), here in their natural habitat?
