Hermes silk twill scarf, hand rolled, 36" x 36"

Australian-born illustrator Jeff Fisher is noted for his delicate, watercolourist’s touch. Living in France for the past 20 years, his fresh, distinctive style has earned him an international reputation. He has illustrated numerous books and magazines, and published his own book, Birds, devoted to the subject-matter of this scarf, which marks his début as an illustrator for Hermès. Looking at this bright, festive scene with its glowing colours, it’s easy to imagine its creator’s delight in the shaping of the composition: we seem to hear the chatter of a thousand brightly-plumed birds. With their fat, slender or curved beaks, their round, narrow or crested heads and huge wings, open wide or folded, each seems to represent a fairytale, or a country, or the inspirational freedom of the astonishing gift of flight. Who has never dreamed of metamorphosing into a bird?
