The young ladies whose adventures are recounted in Saw Keng’s design have become familiar faces, with their huge eyes and slender silhouettes, their fantasy and wit, ever-ready to step out and take centre stage. Here, they hark back to the spirit of the great Parisian balls of the 1950s: Bal des rois et des reines, Bal des artistes, Bal des masques et des dominos. Dancing and twirling, their imaginations take flight, decked out in fantastical masks, blankets and shawls, with feathers in their hair. Dreams and laughter abound in the extraordinary lightness of their extravagant world.
